Man United vs Rayo Vallecano

Ronaldo returns

Cristiano Ronaldo returns as Man United draw 1-1 in final preseason game

Cristiano Ronaldo made his comeback for Manchester United as Erik ten Hag's side ended their summer schedule with a 1-1 draw with Rayo Vallecano at Old Trafford.

Ronaldo, who missed the tour of Thailand and Australia to deal with a family issue, started the game but was substituted after 45 minutes.

The 37-year-old had one chance in the first half but fired over the crossbar after picking up Donny van de Beek's pass on the left side of the penalty area.

His half-time replacement, Amad Diallo, gave United the lead shortly after the break before Alvaro Garcia equalised.

Cristiano Ronaldo's return and ten Hag's home bow were the big pre-game storylines for United but the former only lasted 45 minutes and the latter was left frustrated at full time.

Ten Hag was visibly annoyed at the final whistle as he gears up for their Premier League curtain raiser against Brighton on August 7.
